About Me/Contact

Ben Sweeney is a young Formula One blogger based in Ireland. In January 2012 he decided to combine his love of Formula One with his passion for writing and so Ben Sweeney’s F1 Blog was born.

Since then the blog has become the go to place for F1 enthusiasts. Its popularity grew through 2012 and Ben attracted over 60,000 individual views to his blog throughout the 2013 F1 season. In a world full of bloggers, Ben Sweeney’s F1 Blog is firmly established as a reliable, honest and informative F1 blog.

In a short time Ben has made connections with hundreds of F1 insiders and he has managed to attract some interest from high profile and well respected F1 personnel. Less than 12 months after starting the blog, Dr. Gary Hartstein gave Ben a world exclusive with his first public interview after leaving his post as the Formula One doctor at the end of the 2012 season.

Ben was invited to Red Bull Racing’s factory in Milton Keynes in 2013 to meet Mark Webber and Team Principal Christian Horner. He was subsequently asked to be a guest at the Force India factory in Silverstone for the Indian Grand Prix. In 2014, Ben was invited to a blacktie ball at the British and Italian Grand Prix, was invited to an event at the Monaco Grand Prix, and attended a Red Bull Open House where he spoke to Daniel Ricciardo, Christian Horner and Sebastian Buemi.

As the only Irish Formula One blogger, Ben has established connections within the national media.  In 2013, Ben was offered the role of Formula One correspondent on a sports programme on TRTÉ, a digital channel operated by RTE, the Irish national broadcaster.

In October 2014 Ben was a guest on the BBC World Service show, “World Have Your Say”, where he spoke about Safety in Formula One with Former F1 driver Eddie Irvine and F1 doctor Gary Hartstein. In 2013, Ben was one of a number of global judges who selected the MoneySupermarket.com ‘Grand Prix Driver of the Year’, and was also a part of the panel who selected the best British driver of all time (up to 2013), again for MoneySupermarket.com. Ben is also a regular panelist on Pit Stop Radio, a popular F1-based online radio programme based in the UK.

Ben works with Wired FM, presenting a sports show, a morning show and newsroom work, and also works in the newsroom of Limerick’s Live 95FM. He has also done MC work in Limerick, hosting The National Dance Championships in 2015 and 2016, the Wired FM awards in April 2015 and a charity Take Me Out event for MIC’s SVP society. He has also worked with well known videographer Paul Corey on several projects including recording short films and live sports events.

Ben has worked with agents for Holiday Inn, Bwin.com, Express Insurance and Sky Store and has been commissioned to write F1-related stories for them. He is partnered with various global media organisations using social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.  Ben has access to radio studios and TV facilities ensuring his availability to media outlets who invite him to contribute to their programmes.

Like the sport it reports on, Ben Sweeney’s F1 Blog is moving at a relatively lively pace but is firmly grounded ensuring reliability and consistency. Each blog brings more respect among its fans and further contacts within the F1 world.  Sign up today and secure your place in the paddock or the grandstand – Ben Sweeney’s F1 Blog will ensure you have access all areas – all the time.
