According to credible reports in the paddock this evening, Lotus have reached a deal with Quantum.
Quantum have agreed to buy a percentage of Lotus which in turn has given Lotus the monetary backing to reach a pay deal with Kimi Raikkonen for the remaining two races. Due to budget issues at the Enstone based team, Raikkonen has not been paid this season, leading to a spat between Kimi and the team, and his subsequent threats to boycott the remaining races in protest. However, this means that despite his disappointing weekend in Abu Dhabi, he will be on the grid in Austin and Brazil.
The deal also means that Lotus will not have to rely on Pastor Maldoando’s PDVSA sponsorship, and can switch their attention to putting Nico Hulkenberg in their 2014 car, alongside Romain Grosjean who will be team leader when Kimi Raikkonen makes the move to Ferrari.
