Sebastian Vettel retained the top spot at the Belgian Grand Prix when he beat Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso to 1st during Saturday morning’s Free Practice 2. Red Bull’s Mark Webber was right behind the duo in third, himself just ahead of Toro Rosso’s Jean-Eric Vergne who led the session until late. Felipe Massa was fifth for Ferrari ahead of Jenson Button in sixth and Esteban Gutierrez in seventh. Nico Rosberg in ninth separated the Lotus duo of Romain Grosjean and Kimi Raikkonen.
Daniel Ricciardo was eleventh for Toro Rosso ahead of Lewis Hamilton who, again, was down in twelfth. Valtteri Bottas was fourteenth and split the Force India pairing of Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta. Sergio Perez was far down in sixteenth for McLaren, Nico Hulkenberg was seventeenth and Pastor Maldonado was eighteenth. Charles Pic finished best of the back-markers in ninteenth ahead of Giedo van der Garde in the other Caterham, with the Marussia duo of Jules Bianchi and Max Chilton bringing up the rear.
