Hungarian Grand Prix Secures Contract Extension

The Hungarian Grand Prix will remain on the calendar until 2021 at the earliest, following the signing of a contract track-side this morning.

Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone and the Hungarian minister for national development Lászlóné Németh signed the five-year extension at the track, an hour before the Grand Prix kicks off. Previously, the track had held a contract until 2016 but the contract extension, which includes obligatory developments to grandstands and medical facilities will see it held until at least 2021.

The Hungarian Grand Prix has been on the calendar since 1986 and has played the scene of Jenson Button’s and Heikki Kovalainen’s first career wins.
