Kolles Attempted To Blackmail Wolff

It has emerged that Colin Kolles, the former team-principal at the now dead HRT outfit, tried to blackmail Mercedes’ Toto Wolff earlier this year.

Kolles had recorded Wolff talking badly about Mercedes team-principal Ross Brawn and former World Champion Niki Lauda, without Wolff’s knowledge, and subsequently threatened to release the recording unless Wolff paid up.

Bild reports that Kolles recorded Wolff at Barcelona this February, several months after HRT collapsed and left Kolles out of the job.

Bernie Ecclestone reportedly stepped in to help smooth the situation out and the two eventually settled the argument while Mercedes obtained a court order and prevented Kolles from releasing the audio.
