Force India have been handed a fine for an unsafe release during the German Grand Prix.
They released Paul di Resta into the path of Jean-Eric Vergne’s Toro Rosso. Neither driver made contact but this was due to Vergne’s quick reactions and a sharp stomp on the brake pedal. Despite being an obvious unsafe release, stewards decided to investigate the incident after the race.
Following the race, and having called members of the team to answer for the unsafe release, stewards handed down a fine of €5,000 to the team. An investigation is still ongoing over Mark Webber’s unsafe release which saw the Aussie released from his pit box without his rear-right tyre attached – which subsequently hit an FOM cameraman.
