Vettel Leads FP2 At Home Grand Prix

Sebastian Vettel has finished the second Free Practice Session at the German Grand Prix on top of the timesheets. The German driver took the top spot from team-mate Mark Webber mid-way through the session and never lost it as team’s set into longer race simulations. Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg was second behind Vettel while Mark Webber was third at the track where he claimed his maiden win in 2009. Lotus’ Romain Grosjean and Kimi Raikkonen were fourth and fifth respectively while the Ferrari duo of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa were right behind them in sixth and seventh. The morning session’s top man, Lewis Hamilton was eighth at his team’s home race while his former team-mate, Jenson Button was ninth for McLaren. Paul di Resta filled out the top ten for Force India.

Di Resta’s team-mate, Adrian Sutil was eleventh at his home round, ahead of Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne who took Toro Rosso to twelfth and thirteenth ahead of Sergio Perez in fourteenth. The Saubers of Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Gutierrez were fifteenth and sixteenth while Williams also came in formation, Valtteri Bottas and Pastor Maldonado taking seventeenth and eighteenth. Charles Pic, again, was the fastest backmarker as he finished nineteenth while team-mate Giedo van der Garde was twentieth. Jules Bianchi was twenty-first but pulled in mid-session to prematurely end his Friday running as he was feeling ill. Rodolfo Gonzalez filled in for the Frenchman in a pre-arranged driver swap and if Bianchi is still ill tomorrow, Gonzalez can take over for him as he has an FIA super-license. Max Chilton was twenty-second and last.
