Raikkonen Set To Break Schumi’s Record

Lotus’ Kimi Raikkonen is edging ever close to breaking Michael Schumacher’s record for most consecutive points finishes – 24 continuous results.

The Finn has not retired from a Grand Prix since returning to the sport in 2012, and only finished outside the points at the 2012 Chinese Grand Prix when his Pirellis ‘hit the cliff’ (lost grip) and saw the 2007 World Champion drop several places in the final few laps.

However, Raikkonen has only to finish in the top ten in Sunday’s Canadian Grand Prix to equal the astonishing record which was first set by Schumacher between the 2001 Hungarian Grand Prix and the 2003 Malaysian Grand Prix.

Raikkonen came dangerously close to losing his attempt when McLaren’s Sergio Perez rammed him off the road at the Nouvelle chicane during the Monaco Grand Prix two weeks ago and led to a furious storm through the grid in the final laps to marginally finish 10th and keep his challenge alive.
