Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel was on site at the site of the planned Russian Grand Prix today to preview the track which is expected to hold it’s first Grand Prix near the end of 2014.
The German travelled from Sakhir International Circuit where he yesterday claimed his second win this season, to Sochi Olympic Park Circuit. He was joined by former Red Bull, McLaren and Williams driver turned pundit, David Coulthard, and together they drove a section of the as of yet incomplete track in Red Bull’s title sponsor, an Infiniti road car.
They then met Russian Government officials and members of Formula Sochi, the track’s organising body when they then proceeded to the Ice Skating arena to give his opinion of the track.
“It is a great privilege to be the first Formula One driver to visit the new Sochi venue.” Vettel said. “I can already see it will be a fun circuit to drive in a Formula One car and the rest of the venue is very impressive.”
The track is scheduled to be completed well in advance of the November round and will the larger complex will play host to the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
