Hamilton Handed Five Place Penalty

Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton has been handed down a five place grid penalty for tomorrow’s Bahrain Grand Prix.

The Briton suffered a delamination on his left-rear tire at the end of Saturday’s FP3 session and a subsequent investigation by the team led to the decision to change Lewis’ gearbox.

Also to incur grid drops are Red Bull’s Mark Webber who was given a three place penalty for his Shanghai clash with Jean-Eric Vergne, and Sauber’s Esteban Gutierrez who was given a five place penalty for running into the back of Adrian Sutil’s Force India during the opening laps of the Chinese Grand Prix.
