Lewis Suffers Suspected Allergic Reaction Ahead Of Chinese Grand Prix

Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton has fallen ill ahead of the upcoming Chinese Grand Prix.

The Briton arrived in Shanghai on Wednesday and carried out commercial commitments. On Thursday, however, his media engagements were cancelled when he returned to his hotel room.

Hamilton was reportedly spotted with an inflamed eye this Thursday which has prompted suspicions that the 28-year-old is suffering an allergic reaction to Shanghai’s smog – the same smog which forces some local residents to wear masks.

A doctor visited Hamilton at his hotel room where he was told to rest to ensure he was fit to take part in Friday morning’s FP1 session.

Mercedes took their first win last year at the Chinese circuit, while Lewis grabbed the top spot the year before that. Will 2013 see a combination?
