China’s Ma Qing Hua will take to the track during tomorrow’s Free Practice 1 session, which will see him become the first Chinese driver to run an F1 session in his home country.
Hua was HRT’s reserve driver for 2012 and then made the move to Caterham following the Spanish suit’s demise. Tomorrow will see him replace Frenchman Charles Pic for FP1.
His previous on track experience consists of outings for HRT in Italy, Singapore, Abu Dhabi and Austin. He is currently competing in GP2, also with Caterham, where he finished 21st in the opening race in Malaysia but then retired due to illness.
Alexander Rossi will take the CT-02 out on track for FP1 in Bahrain which is back-to-back with the Chinese round.
