Leo Hindery, the promoter for the New Jersey Grand Prix, has moved to assure the world that there will be a 2014 Grand Prix.
The street circuit set with the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline was due to have its inaugural race in 2013, but delays with the building of the paddock structure and not having yet obtained a permit saw the race eventually dropped.
In an interview with Sports Business Daily, Hindery said “I think that Bernie made absolutely the right decision” [to postpone the Grand Prix], but did add that “We are back under construction”.
“We have the consents in place that we didn’t have last fall, and we will quite comfortably put the race on, now probably in the mid-year of 2014 with Bernie’s support.”
There has been some speculation as to when the Grand Prix would be scheduled, but it is believed that it would feature in June, between the Canadian event and the Austin race which would be rescheduled from its current November placing.
