Force India have announced that they will run both Adrian Sutil and Jules Bianchi at this weeks pre-season test. The two, who have been strongly linked to the last remaining seat, especially following Sutil’s seat fitting last week, will be pitted against each other in what appears will be a shootout to a seat.
Jules Bianchi, who also got track time two weeks ago in Jerez, will be taking control on Thursday, Di Resta piloting the VJM07 for the first two days. Bianchi is on loan from Ferrari and he has been a test driver since and was strongly expected to take the sole remaining seat in Formula One, but Adrian Sutil’s seat fitting recently has thrown his name back into the ring.
The German lost his drive, seemingly as a result of his trial regarding Grevious Bodily Harm in a Chinese night club in April 2011. Losing his drive last year seemed to be the nail in the coffin for his career, but he could be set to save it at the last minute, providing he can impress on Friday. Similarly, Bianchi will have to be on the ball on Thursday if he is to maintain a challenge on the seat.
Other drivers who could have fought for the drive include Bruno Senna, Timo Glock, Kamui Kobayashi and even Rubens Barrichello, but they all look to have lost their chance, with Force India lining up Sutil and Bianchi to face off for a final shootout in the Spanish sun.
