HRT first to receive fine in Austin

HRT have finally set a record, albeit probably not the type they are looking for. They have become the first team to receive a fine today, following on from FP1 where de la Rosa and Qing Hua took the car out on track.

Chinese driver Ma Qing Hua was caught speeding in the pit lane, 69.9km/h to be precise, which surpasses the allowed 60km/h pit lane speed. It’s an embarrassing moment for the driver who was standing in for FP1 in place of Karthikeyan. He was the only reserve driver out on track today, as all other teams opted to give their driver maximum track time.

He will also have to cough up €2,000 to pay for the fine.

Free Practice 2 in Austin begins at 1pm local time which converts to 7pm GMT.
