DRS to be restricted from 2013

FIA technical delegate and race director Charlie Whiting has announced that the DRS usage for all practice and qualifying sessions will be reduced to just the DRS zone.

Since 2011 when DRS, the Drag Reduction System, was introduced, drivers have been allowed to use the DRS whenever they want during the Friday and Saturday, with DRS restricted to a single, or in some circumstances, a double DRS zone. But now, drivers will be not be allowed to activate the movable rear wing, which de-activates under braking.

There has been some trouble with DRS, namely at Eau Rouge in Spa-Francorchamps and the tunnel at Monaco, in which DRS has now been banned due to safety concerns.
