Pic penalised for engine change

Charles Pic will drop 10 grid places for the Korean Grand Prix after being the first driver in 2012 to change an engine. The Frenchman has surpassed his allowance of 8 engines over the course of a season but Marussia have announced that they have to install his ninth Cosworth engine of the season ahead of FP3 in Yeongam.

“We plan to fit a new engine to Charles’ car this evening in the knowledge that, as his ninth engine of the season, we will incur a 10-place grid penalty on Sunday,” said team principal John Booth on Friday.

Pic finished 21st in Friday’s second practice session, half a second down on 20th-placed team-mate Timo Glock.
